Is That a Real Dog?

Dad has always loved dogs.  His home has always had a dog or maybe even two.  Unfortunately, his last dog died several months ago.  Now he lovingly watches dogs wherever he goes.  Dad loves visiting friends who have three little dogs who take turns sitting on his lap.  He can cuddle and scratch and talk with the dogs for hours.

Recently Dad was given two small stuffed dogs.  They sit on his desk and help him to read.  They come to the table to share his meals.  They play with each other. Sometimes one of these puppies comes with on car trips to help navigate.

When I first saw Dad playing with stuffed animals I thought it was awful. So childish and inappropriate.  How could someone have allowed him to get into this?  But I have come to see the value of these cute little animals.  Like the real dogs before them, these new puppies are a focus of conversation and a comfort to Dad.

His two puppies have now been joined by another puppy, a small monkey, and a life sized gorrilla.

Who wouldn’t want a  gorilla to hang out with?

Thanks for sharing – my aunt did the same thing. She loved dogs & so she went for stuffed animal dogs when she got Alzheimer’s.
