Should We Go Out to Dinner?

Fancy dinner

Dad always wants to treat people to dinner.  Even when he has spent time helping me to prepare the food in the oven, he is likely to suggest that we go out.

Dad doesn’t remember the names of many foods.  He knows that he shouldn’t be having onions or cheese.  So he will eliminate any dish on the menu with those items in the description.  But he doesn’t know how turkey, tomatoes, carrots, enchiladas, or sausage taste or whether he likes them.

Dad depends on the people around him to decide what he will eat.  We try to consider what he has always enjoyed,  assure that there is plenty of flavor, and eliminate the cheese and onions that he can’t have.

It’s fun to try to find something he will enjoy to make his evening what he was looking forward to.
